The draft Steven is surprised about is because the original was sand cast! Bob Howard showed me the orginal 'ANDY' when I was on a pilgrimage to Mesa. (I single handedly shut down production for about an hour.) What you are buying is a lost wax copy of it (including a copy of the threads). I have one and a picture of it is on my web site. (It's shown with a quarter for scale- someone has posted the url here before. I'd post it again but I'm affiliated with my site!).
I think it is very cool to be able to buy copies of the original. Copying each other's tools is/was what pattern makers do for fun. I have a type two 45 cast in bronze- skate and all. (It's also pictured on my affliated web page). My favorite part is the knobs the guy used- they are of different threads and can't be interchanged.
What I need now is for Steven to loan me his modified St. James plane so I can have a copy cast!
